I improvised this pattern as I was making it. For the one I made, I did a single criss-cross of the border in the middle. That's why I put so many chevron rows. To be able to post it, I had to make it repeat and that actually works well! So you can adjust how long you're making it based on the number of chevron rows in either direction, and you can also pick the number of times you repeat the criss-cross. I didn't have any that worked at the time, but I thought the middle of the criss-cross would be a good spot for a bead.
