@franie123 for me, if i’m doing crochet, i use either yarn or thread (depending on how big i want it) with the right hook for the weight of string i’m using. for crochet i always use DC stitch and double the number of stitches across so the width of the stitch is equal to the height. if it’s too big to feasibility double the number of stitches, then i use knitting and knitting for me is always done with yarn. bc knit stitches are the same height and width, i don’t double the number. i’ve just started cross stitching and tbh i think it’s the best for very small and very big pieces as long as you have a big enough hoop or plastic mesh. each stitch is one square and they look closest you can get to being true to the image (other than knotting like a friendship bracelet that is)
