My picture for #190164 has been accepted. 🎉This is the largest number of strings I've worked with. It also had mostly elbow knots, only the 2nd time I've attempted a mostly 1212 pattern. I was using different kinds of crochet string for the ground and sky because I didn't have enough floss of those colors. It lead to a little inconsistency. I tried some things and learned a lot. I'll share, if it has any usefulness for anyone. New things learned: - 1212 patterns work better for me if I do two rows as a time, like mini-segments. - I *can double up # 10 crochet string to make it closer to the size of another kind that I have and they are very close - I *was able to feed in more string for ones that where too short from the back as shown in a Martha Knots video... I hope it doesn't unravel if anyone ever wears this one - It's the first time I've attempted this. - Reminder to self to pay attention to how many knots each instance of a string color is used and if they cross in the pattern. If they don't cross, then I can't swap them and need to account for that in the string lengths up-front - If a color had multiple strings, but is only on the one-side of the pattern, I can fold it in half and loop it around like-situated strings from the other side. Cover up the area where they hook around each other with the loops of the teardrop opening, but there will be a bump in the tear drop opening. Yeah! So I worked a long time on this one. Doesn't look great, but I was definitely working outside of my comfort zone. Thanks again to @halokiwi for the pattern. I hope to try again sometime will all # 10 crochet string. It produces *much smaller knots and is 28-stringer won't be so cumbersome, maybe. |
