Spooled thread is only one strand of thread. It's very thin, breaks easily, and is mostly used for sewing. The stuff that comes in the skeins is embroidery floss. Technically spooled thread and embroidery floss are made of the same stuff, but embroidery floss is six strands of thread twisted together. Embroidery floss is what you want to use for bracelets. In fact, I don't even buy spooled thread anymore, because I can always pull a thread some from scrap floss. The DMC brand of embroidery floss stocks more than 400 different colors. Including metallic, pastel, and fluorescent shades. You can get DMC at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Wal-Mart. You can also order it on Amazon. Hope that helps! |
