When you're a beginner, you can't add friends, but other people (who are advanced and higher) can friend you. Once you rank up to advanced, you can start to friend people 🙂

once you are advanced or higher you can add friends by going to a user’s profile and clicking an option saying “add as friend.” then you’ll get a notification at some point saying that user accepted/declined your friend request!
