Have you already had success making patterns such as (in order of size) #273, #117, or #260? It looks like the pattern in which you're interested is essentially just a much larger scale version of those.

If you haven't, I'd recommend starting there--it'll build your confidence to tackle the bigger stuff, and things that seem confusing now will probably get sorted for you along the way.

Masha did a follow along:

After being a bit nosey, I see a couple of those suggestions are already on your To-Do list (start there). 👍

Are you familiar with the concept of "segment" knotting? Masha explains it all:

If you don't necessarily have to follow a pattern row by row, this would probably be the way to go. Start with the middle stuff, and little by little bring in all the other strands as we need them in order to get the ball rolling (pushing EVERYthing we don't need way to the left and the right to keep them out of our way, and bringing them into the fold when we're ready for them).

If you still genuinely prefer going row by row (no judgment--on some patterns, we pretty much have to, especially the first time), I would suggest completing row 1 and 2 at the same time. What that means is pushing the entire bundle of strings off to the right and out of our way, taking from them only the two strands we need for the first knot of row 1. Make the knot, then move on to the second knot of the first row. After that, go back to the left a bit and make the first knot of the second row with the strands that we've already been working with. Go back up after that to make knot 3 on row 1, then back down to do knot 2 of row 2. Keep following that scheme until we get all the way to the right, and all the strands have been used.

If we did it correctly, everything should be lined up neatly for us to get going on row 3, no daunting spaghetti mess to deal with. 👍
