@TRIGGERS mentions of death, suicide, murder, and the like (not graphic dw)I'm writing a story taking place around ww2, tell me how you like it please 🙂 This has a lot of connections between characters etc, so it might be hard to follow in some parts as its only a rough sketch but yeah, here we go... What I'm going to present to you actually mainly focuses on one character and her life. Lyudmila Arkadyevna Vyborova is the daughter of (unnamed mother) and Arkady (patryonymic) Vyborov. Her sibling is Sergei Arkadyevich Vyborov, and he is two years older than her. Her father, Arkady, prefers to go along with the popular opinion, and is an avid reader of "PRAVDA". He strongly believes in communism. His wife, however, sees the flaws of a communist government, though she stays silent. She always is quiet when her husband speaks of politics, not wanting to bring her children into this. However, Arkady knows this. (through suspicion) Now Lyuda is her fathers favorite child. She gets all the praises, pats on the head, and in general the favoritism is extremely obvious. Sergei is jealous so he has a sort of rivalry with his sister (although she tries to help him) and since a young age tries to make his father proud, in the evenings reading "pravda" together and agreeing with anything his father says. He gets more attention through that. Lyuda is also communist brainwashed, though she's not as engaged in politics due to lack of interest (and she doesn't really have a reason to be as a little girl that doesn't need to impress her parent) But of course her mother is worried about the economy, etc. and so she at least tries to talk to Lyuda, to not have a communist daughter. This makes Lyuda torn apart between her mother and father of course, but she acts fine externally. Anyways, one day the mother dies due to murder (the father was drunk and did it, but the kids don't know this). Lyuda is in despair, Sergei is horrified, farther doesn't know what's going on. Then he brainwashes his kids when he becomes sober that his wife was communist and teaches them communist ideals. Well, Sergei follows in his father's footsteps and joins the soviet army, and his Lyuda doesn't have a husband or anyone else to go to, she also joins. (they are now young adults and Arkady a honored soviet general). One day though, Lyuda meets a Russian prisoner about to be shipped to Siberia for opposing communists. Being extremely brainwashed, she is disgusted and takes out her gun, but her brother tells her to not, because he deserves the suffering he'll get in the gulags. Sergei leaves, and the prisoner begs Lyuda to hear him out and explains to her how the communist government is corrupt. Lyuda listens idly but more and more she is reminded of her mother and realizes what a mistake she made. she finds some uniform and helps the prisoner escape that way, and he goes on his way being grateful. Lyuda returns and finds her father and his friends rather drunk and laughing, and talking about "what a good comrade Arkady is, making a personal sacrifice in the name of communism by accident". Now Sergei knows what this means, but his heart is hardened so he doesn't say anything. A lightbulb goes off in Lyuda and she is even more horrified, with her eyes being opened fully for the first time. She decides to take a journey to the allies a month later, not telling anyone about her departure. That prisoner that she saved happens to be there, having joined not long ago. He introduces himself as Vladimir, and Lyuda tells him and the generals about her situation. They are suspicious of her, especially because of Vladimir and accuse him of bring his "communist friends". (he enlisted with the allies not long ago, so they are even more suspicious). Lyuda then returns to the soviet army, thankfully not in the same stations with her family so she can avoid questions. She collects information and returns to the allies, telling them of future battle plans on the soviet side. They don't believe her, but after it proves true start to listen to her. She and Vladimir become very close friends and Lyuda becomes and unofficial apy for the allies. However, Lyuda can only provide a limited amount of information and one day the soviets organize a raid on the allies, full of bomber planes and shooting men on foot. In the chaos, accompanied by her best friend, Lyuda comes across Sergei. Sergei recognizes his sister, shocked, and then realizes her betrayal when he recognizes the prisoner. He's about to shoot at Vladimir for "brainwashing his sister" but Lyuda shields her friend at the last moment, getting a severe blow to her chest, being instantly killed. Though Sergei is soviet through and through, he can't live that he had killed his sister. 2 days later he commits suicide. ummm yeah that's it. I keep thinking about the plot and what happens afterwards, but this is what I have so far. It's a really rough draft. Any thoughts? Ideas? is it interesting? would you read it? sorry if its written weird English is not my first language! thank you for reading🙂 |
