You could call it macrame, I feel that macrame is a little different though, and the material is definitely different. Embroidery floss doesn't really work with those crafts. If it did, imagine the money I could have saved! 😛

Yes, I'd definitely say so. You can even use macrame knots on friendship bracelets. But even if you do normal friendship bracelet knots it's still close enough.

If you look at the definition of macrame it says: "The art of knotting cord or string in patterns to create decorative articles." So, yes, friendship bracelets are a sort of macrame 😊
