I've been feeling kind of overwhelmed about my university schoolwork lately; it's not that I have a ton of work, in fact I am only taking 12 credits. But I'm worried that when I go up to 15 credits next semester, I won't be able to manage my time. Almost everyone I know is taking 15 or more. I know some people who are even taking 17 or 18 credits and they are telling me I'm crazy because compared to that 15 is nothing. I just feel really bad and discouraged. I have trouble doing any work at all and it's just been a struggle.

credit hours are not necessarily a reliable measure of workload. i have a 0-credit hour lab that requires 3 hours per week of in-lab time and at least 5 of work outside of lab, but 2 of my 3-credit lectures take about 30 minutes a week. my advice as a college senior would be get your assignments done as they come. if youre assigned something on monday thats due on friday, do as much as you can on monday, even if its a shoddy job. you can go back and tweak it throughout the week but if you wait to start an essay or something until the day its due it will not be a fun time. if you are able to rearrange your schedule to make it more workload-balanced that may be a good idea. i had a couple rough semesters and a couple that were way to easy, and i wished i moved some classes around

i have the same exact courseload as you! i'm taking 12 credit hours this semester and will be taking 15 next semester. my advice is to breathe and try your best to stay organized. i love my planner and i rely heavily on setting timers to work on schoolwork with breaks in between. burnout sucks, these weeks in the year are so stressful and the workload feels like it triples overnight once you get to this point in the semester. just remember that the semester is almost over, you're almost to the finish line! if you desperately need a break, reach out to your professors about taking a mental health day. i had to earlier in the semester and just taking a day to not focus on school helped me feel a lot better. i believe in you, and feel free to message me if you want to talk about it!
