Hey BB!
It's officially cross country season! I have been a runner since early middle school and just entered my twenties. Unfortunately, my time as a high school runner was cut short due to some personal things but about two years ago I got back into it and since have completed 3 half marathons under 1h 30 minutes. I coach a youth cross country team and sometimes help out with my high school's old team. I also work at a local running store!
I want this forum to be a space where all us runners can talk about our experiences, ask questions, motivate each other, share advice, or even share workouts.
Even if you're not a runner, join us! If you want to get into running I'm glad and I'm sure everyone else would be glad to give you motivation and ideas.
Share your stories here!

As a high-mileage military retiree, I'd solemnly vowed to never run again (unless something seriously scary was hot on my heels). Then I went and rescued a half Siberian Husky, a puppy absolutely born to run. The things we do for love...

Unfortunately, she's really not suited for this tropical climate, so most of the year it's simply too hot to push her into a gallop and keeping her there--Halloween to Valentine's Day is roughly running season for her. For the rest of the year, she strolls at her leisure while I ruck. Coming up on running season again, and curious to see if she'll keep pace with me now--she's mellowed out to the point when, after the first two miles, I can let her off the leash and she sticks close by (and she's learned to not mess with snakes). Depending on how she does, she might once again get a daily pre-dinner 5k out of me.

I love running and I want to improve and I know it's a stupid dream but I hope to make it to the olympics.
In middle school I ran the 100, 200, and 400m dash
I wanna get faster at the 100 and 200m dash
my 100m dash currently is 13.46
and I haven't timed my 200 since middle school which was 30.01

@riv_fergie If that was an open question to the board and not intended for anyone in specific, I can vouch for the running plans of Stew Smith for improving the mile run.

https://www.stewsmith.com/linkpages/runfaster.htm

Specifically for sprinting, if you aren't already doing so, I'd suggest getting on a first name basis with the "Hardstyle" kettlebell swing.

The video below is a demonstration by Karen Smith (no relation to Stew, as far as I know). She's one of the strongest ladies I've ever met and knows her stuff.

@GiuseppeK Thank you so much!!!! I've wanted to shave a minute off for a while but I after middle school there wasn't an athletics so I couldn't improve without doing a sport and I couldn't do track or cross country because my parents can't drop me off

@riv_fergie While belonging to a team can be nice, there's nothing about your particular athletic goals that requires it.

If we want that mile time bad enough, we don't need to wear a uniform nor do we have to wait for anyone else to validate us. No off-season, either.

@riv_fergie Afterthought (I do some of my best proofreading after hitting reply...): That goes at least double if we have Olympic ambitions. If we want to go for the Gold, we can't wait for the world to give us their blessing.

2028 might seem like a long time away, but it'll be here before we know it. The harsh reality is that's probably going to be your best shot; having to wait another four years (that's FOREVER for an athlete at the top of her game) has crushed so many Olympian's dreams.

@GiuseppeK I hope that I can go but if not I won't mind waiting another 4 years
