My baby grabbed my phone while I had it open to a pattern I was working on, gave ponotama a 1 star rating, instead of messaging me, she was petty and gave one of my already low rated patterns 1 stars. Here I thought this was an app for people to escape the days stresses and we got people being immature. That’s sad

I also want to add, I’m a paying subscriber to her YouTube on top of that.

Hi, that's pretty unfortunate :/

My recommendation for you: when you (or your baby) accidentally give a one star rating, leave a comment (or write a message) explaining the mistake. Most people will understand.

Most users are aware that accidental ratings happen sometimes. Going out of your way to give a bad rating in turn is a bit odd.

If I were you, I would still just write a message to ponotama being like "Hi, I noticed you gave one of my patterns a bad rating. I know I also gave one of yours a bad rating, so I understand that you are upset. I should have reached out to you when I gave the bad rating to apologise because it actually wasn't me who gave that rating. It was my baby who got a hold of my phone. I would have never given your pattern a bad rating myself. I'm a big fan of your creations and even a paying subscriber of your channel."

Something like that. You can keep it as short or as long with as many niceties as you want 😉 maybe it will help to at least be on good terms with her again. If it doesn't I'm sure we mods can also have a word with her.

In the meantime if you like you can give me the numbers of both patterns so I can give both of them a 5 star rating.

@halokiwi I’d love to but it happened immediately after my baby did it so I felt quite discouraged even writing her a message or comment tbh. If I was out to get her, like she must think I am, I would have left a bad rating on all her patterns, but clearly that wasn’t the case. It was a one time thing which should have indicated to her like hey, oops she must of done that by accident etc. it’s happened to me before too, where a one off bad rating happened and hey, it’s fine I can take the 1 star rating, maybe the pattern sucked lol 😆 but it felt targeted sadly. Anyways the pattern of hers was 163463 and mine was 159884. Thank you for commenting your advice, I’ve been on this app for years now and have never had an issue with another user before. I clearly like her patterns, I’ve been a subscriber of hers for two months now on YouTube, when I discovered her videos were no longer free, I made sure to sub if I wanted to continue receiving the correct pattern instructions.

Dear moderators, is it an idea that we can change the ratings we give? I unfortunately give someone not the full rating because I didn’t understand it yet. I thought a star (even one) is good, because it is a star. (I gave one less then max.)

Personally, I've stopped giving stars altogether. After submitting my lone to date pattern and a kind soul blessing it with five, I received a notification that someone had done so (admittedly, more than it probably warrants). While I don't recall ever giving less than four to any pattern here, the realization that the creator will be notified that I was the one who "ruined" their perfect rating (c'mon, folks--if EVERYthing is "five stars" than nothing is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) is liable to drum up unnecessary butthurt.

If I cared enough for someone's work to recreate it myself, seems to me an uploaded photo is a much better indicator of sincerity, anyway.

@shannonrae There is the possibility that when she was looking at your profile (since you gave her a 1 star and she may have been curious about you), she tapped into your pattern and like some of us with fat fingers, also accidentally hit the 1 star button. I don’t think she means to be petty though, for a big creator like her to go back and give everyone who rated her patterns a 1 star would be incredibly difficult.

@dragonzzz the odds of her also giving me a 1 star rating after that are very slim, from what I’ve been told, she’s also done that same thing to other people sadly as well but the people who left her one star rating according to them, were because she started charging everyone to watch her YouTube videos to know how to properly make her patterns. She claims it’s due to her having the copyright to her patterns stolen from other users on YouTube but I don’t think she fully understands what it means to have a copyright because she’d have to have legal documents and such and she’d have paid to have her patterns copyrighted etc. if that were the case she wouldn’t be posting them on BB for people to use freely if they were indeed copyrighted. I guess she is upset because someone else made a YouTube video showing people how to make it, which I don’t understand what the problem with that is, if she was ok with other people making her patterns on bb freely but not on YouTube? Anyways doesn’t make sense to me and others as it’s not even serious in the terms of how she went about it all. All she’d have to do was private her videos and post the link to the video in the BB comments on each pattern so that way only users of BB with access to that specific link would be able to access her videos.

Oh that really sucks, but personally (you and I are not the same person, you have every right to be angry) I’d give her the benefit of the doubt. But about copyright, if she created a pattern, it’s copyrighted by her. You don’t need to get it legally copyrighted or have any papers, as far as I know. And when people make her patterns on BB, it helps her rank up and she can gain popularity from it, and on BB there’s no money or profit involved, but when someone makes a video of the same thing on YouTube they’re stealing her ideas and views, and possibly subscribers, which as a YouTuber is how she makes money (although the members thing is honestly so annoying). But I’m not trying to defend her, and she may just be a petty person, but it’s worth considering.

@dragonzzz I totally get it, I love her patterns, I pay for a subscription on YouTube from her, my second month in a row that I have paid for a sunflower level subscription to her channel. But what I’m saying is this site is intended to be completely free, sadly her patterns don’t show the exact way to make them, therefore leaving BB users wondering why their patterns aren’t turning out the way it does in pictures. What upsets me is she got popular on BB because her patterns are awesome and beautiful and then after a couple years or so on here posting patterns and people being able to access them for free she suddenly stops and started charging people. Thats a shame to the people and users of BB that have been fans of hers for a while now, kinda like a slap in the face essentially I guess, so a lot of users are upset at her and I can understand why. This site is suppose to be free to all, and sadly a paywall(subscription to her channel) isn’t going to stop those YouTubers who made videos making her patterns in the past, from making them in the future, especially if they’re that desperate as she says they are.

That’s fair, it is a shame that not everyone can access her patterns anymore, and I hope the rest of BB stays free to use. I’m sorry your pattern got rated a 1 star, and I really hope she doesn’t keep doing that. Your patterns are beautiful and they deserve to be appreciated.
