Hi I’m trying to make a bracelet that’s made by halokiwi and it has 9 strings on one side and 9 strings on the other and I would love to do a loop at the start of the bracelet can you help me?

Which pattern is it?

Does it have 18 strings in total? Then you just take 9 longer strings and fold them in half.

If it's for example 9 white strings and 9 black strings, you can use the technique for making loops with odd amounts of string that MashaKnots explains in her video on the topic.

Hi it’s a few of your patterns actually and it’s #143225 and the pattern #143221 and yes they have 18cm rings in total

MashaKnots has a great video on making loops with odd amounts of string that you can check out.

Personally I think that ties on both ends can look very nice too.

I think loops work when you have an equal pattern when it’s symmetrical when you have the same on both sides to me

I meant you said do 9 longer strings does that mean 9 strings altogether or 9 strings of both colours is what I’m asking

If you want to do a loop with odd amounts of strings, you have to do a knotted loop like the one in your profile picture. Doing one with loose strings like in your other picture won't work (as nicely)

If you have a pattern where you only have even amounts of strings per colour (for example 2, 4, 6, 8...), you can cut half that amount (1, 2, 3, 4...) of strings that are double the length and fold them in half to form the loop.

For a pattern with 9 strings of colour a and 9 strings of colour b you take
- 4 double length strings of colour a and fold them in half
- 4 double length strings of colour b and fold them in half
- 1 double length string of colour a split in half (3 instead of 6 strands) and fold it in half -> both halves have the thickness of one regular string and are used as one
- 1 double length string of colour b split in half (3 instead of 6 strands) -> both halves have the thickness of one regular string and are used as one

MashaKnots explains it in her video on making loops with odd amounts of string

I have had a look at your pattern but it doesn’t look like a candy stripe in the pattern as there is a backward knot in the first row

Should I ask someone to make a video of it on braceletbook

I don't get notifications if you don't tag me btw

You need to make b knots wherever it calls for b knots, but you can tie it in diagonals like you would tie a regular candystripe.

Ok @halokiwi I now get what you are trying to say now can I still do 3 strands of one colour and 3strands of the other colour if I’m doing ties instead of a loop?

If you do ties on both ends instead of a loop, you don't need to split the strings.

You just cut 9 single-length strings of colour a and 9 single-length strings of colour b and use them as they are without splitting them.

You can of course still split your strings in half, but why would you?

@halokiwi I will have to see how much string I have to make this bracelet can I measure them a meter in length will that work for your pattern?
