I want to be able to make a normal pattern into a lanyard or wristlet loop! I saw pictures on Pinterest of attaching the pattern to hardware the same way you would start a keychain, but I CANNOT figure out how to make it into a continuous loop after attaching it this way. Please help!! I can’t attach a picture here, but on pattern #39682 there’s a yellow and teal example of exactly what I’m talking about. |

There’s also a photo on Pinterest of someone who took #92753 “Wrist Wavy Keychains” and made them into wristlet loops. I’d be so grateful if someone made a tutorial or explained to me how to do this!

You could ask @Genki who posted the photo on here how she did it. I would assume that sowing was involved. |

I looked at the first pin and it looked like there was a chevron line popping out which I’m guessing is the thread that they used to sew

You begin the lanyard by looping the string around the hardware just like you’d need to do to start a keychain. BUT, you need double the number of strings. For example, if your pattern calls for 2 red strings (which you’d normally get with one red loop), you need to set up for four red strings (two loops). Then you separate each of those loops into a front and back and basically do your pattern twice. Once both sides are the length you want, you flip them inside out (so the side you DONT want to see is now the front) and do a couple of rows of knots to tie them all together. Cut off your excess string and then you can put some fabric glue over this if that makes you feel it’s more secure 🙂
