You have exquisite taste. While I admittedly lack the skill to do this myself (though I'll give it a shot; the game is afoot), from one fan to another, how "authentic" would you like it to be? For instance, most normies would probably represent the great detective with a deerstalker. He only wore that once (THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES, which was set way out in the English countryside where such a hat would make sense), and he would've looked quite silly wearing it on the streets of his usual London stomping grounds--the man was simply too vain to have made that fashion faux pas. In the meantime, one fan to another, if you can appreciate radio drama, I can't recommend "Sherlock Holmes Vs. Dracula" enough. Holmes and Watson fit so nicely into the original Bram Stoker novel, it's canon as far as I'm concerned--the better a listener knows Holmes, the more enjoyable this gets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TX4rvB6mIs |

Oh thank you so much for the recommendation. I listened to the original stories as audiobooks over the course of the last year, I have since watched several adaptations, and a few weeks ago I finished reading Dracula, so this is very fittingI would argue the deerstalker isn't entirely inauthentic even if it wasn't introduced by acd himself but by the illustrator Sidney Paget instead. Paget shaped the look of the stories a lot and Conan Doyle liked his illustrations enough that he somewhat incorporated that into his writing and to request his work again once he had "resurrected" Holmes But I would agree that Holmes would have researved that hat for his cases in the countryside and not worn it within London So overall I'd be happy either way but I would probably represent him with other elements first Thank you for wanting to try your hand on it I sadly struggle a lot with creating patterns from scratch myself |

If you've *also* read DRACULA, you really are in for a treat, then. 👍

Nothing overly complicated, but figured we'd want the normies to understand who/what's being represented (and how elaborate can we really get with a keychain, anyway?).#196082 By the way, seems I misspoke: "Silver Blaze," not BASKERVILLES was when he was described as wearing an "ear-flapped travelling cap" (and yes, Mr. Paget made the illustration, and the rest is history). |
