Simple plaid patterns are patterns with alternating rows of f and b knots. This structure allows for many cool effects depending on the order of strings. The pattern can look completely different with a different order of strings. With two colours you can create a checkerboard effect (abababab...) or pinwheel effect (ababbaba...). With more colours, you can do a gradient effect. You can do stripes of different width. You can combine multiple effects. The possibilities are endless. Feel free to experiment by clicking "add a variation" on any of the patterns. You might need to add additional keywords to submit the variation because many of the patterns are very old and the standards for keywords were different then. 4 strings: #2432 #7871 5 strings: #2304 6 strings: #676 #7889 7 strings: #598 8 strings: #601 #35395 9 strings: #1312 10 strings: #770 #1630 11 strings: #1233 12 strings: #81 #109 13 strings: #103 14 strings: #1420 #38041 15 strings: #7838 16 strings: #1021 #2261 17 strings: #7305 18 strings: #1250 19 strings: #4205 20 strings: #1421 #28206 21 strings: #2332 22 strings: #7020 23 strings: #41682 24 strings: #113 #1323 25 strings: #7384 26 strings: #5332 27 strings: #4354 28 strings: #9845 29 strings: #1889 30 strings: #4943 #30650 32 strings: #3899 35 strings: #3920 36 strings: #13090 37 strings: #17726 38 strings: #10197 39 strings: #45706 40 strings: #27764 42 strings: #35793 45 strings: #30476 48 strings: #9844 50 strings: #19498 60 strings: #173025 64 strings: #10170 For some amounts of strings, 2 versions are listed. The first version uses more f knots, the second uses more b knots. The patterns are mirrored. Some of the string amounts don't have a simple plaid pattern. If you want to tie a simple plaid pattern with that amount of strings, you can post it to a different plaid pattern. Similar to simple candystripes or chevrons, the amount of strings doesn't really matter for the effect. Please don't try to post the "missing" patterns. Simple plaid patterns are no longer accepted. |
