I recently got some plastic cross stitching material, and i wanted to as others’ opinion of it. Upon testing it with my needles (cross stitching-specific needles) the space is a little tight but my needles go through. It’s 14-count, which is the same as my aida fabric for cross stitching and i wanted to ask a few things:
- what size do you use?
- are your needles tight in the plastic or should i get a larger size?
- there’s probably more but i can’t remember at the moment.

any and all advice is appreciated 😊

When I first began cross stitching I also used 14 count aida cloth, it's a good size to start out. When it comes to needles, I only use needles from the DMC brand, since they are the standard and from my experience the sizing on other brands are not the same. There are a lot of different types of needles, but tapestry needles are the best for cross stitch. They have a blunt point (compared to other needles) and a larger eye to help with threading. A good rule of thumb for needle sizes is that you do not want to have a hard time passing it through the cloth or have it so that once you pass the needle through the hole is now larger, Needle sizes are tricky, so I always look up the right size needle for the aida cloth I work with just to be safe. For 14 count I'd use either #24 or #26.

If you need any more help, feel free to ask!
