backs of normals - help!!

hi! how do you get the backs of your normals to look nice? most of the ones ive made so far look really patchy and the string that should be hidden peeks through the back of the knot! i know theyre not really meant to look as nice but it sometimes makes it hard to see the pattern too, even if the front looks nice. any tips?

You could make the knots "upside-down" to concentrate on the "back".

Instead of moving the "leading string" over and around the "base string" when tying the knot, you move it under and around.
