so my knots in my bracelets always look stretched out and so separate from the other knots, if you know what i mean. i try to tie then harder and tighter but it seems to make it worse. any advice?

What might be helpful is to try to go back to the basics and figure out a good knot tension. Making your knots too loose or too hard will make the bracelet look a little wonky, so figuring out a good middle ground for you is very helpful, even if it takes a little while.

Sure! I’d recommend patterns like the chevron, daisy chain, etc. 😄 Maybe ones with a small amount of string, so you can practice different knot tensions without wasting a good bracelet or string.

Something that may also help is guiding the knot up the string, when I’m helping new people make bracelets I have them guide the string up, then pull tight— so it’s not too tight but also not loose

Friendship bracelet knots are made of two knots, which each affect the finished knot differently. The first knot affects how close together the knots are, and the second one affects how small/tight the finished knot is.

From what you're describing, it sounds like the first half of your knot comes loose before you make the second half. Try to focus on keeping the first half of your knots tight and close to the bracelet before you make the second knot.

Also take notice that some brands of thread are more slippery, and tend not to hold tension very well. DMC for example. If you find yourself working with thread that holds tension badly, try making the first half of the knot tighter than seems reasonable, because it will come a little loose before you can finish the knot.

Hope this helps! =D

@ksocqou, you could try anchor or maybe just go on amazon and order a case of string. I did that, and it works great for practicing making tighter knots. Hope this helps! 😄
