i’ve been knotting bracelets for around 1month now - only normals so far. i know how to segment knot, and that’s what i’ve been doing so far - but i would like to try making a plaid pattern (like 1421) which i don’t know how to segment knot. im a bit unclear on how to knot normals row by row, especially at the start with a loop or teardrop loop. would anyone be able to give me some advice on this? tthank you!!

Do you generally know how to tie normals row by row? When you do a shaped start (or end) some of the rows are incomplete, so you skip a few knots of some rows. You can also always knot in diagonals too, if it is easier especially in the beginning. |

i understand in theory? but i’ve attempted #190272 row by row and not sure if it was just the pattern but i found that very painful 😭😭. i might try knotting in diagonals? that seems useful and also thank you for clarifying about the shaped starts. thanks for the response!

#190272 is a pattern called a 1212 pattern. These ones are unable to be segment knotted, and in my opinion YES THEY ARE SO PAINFUL! I’d recommend with #1421 to knot it diagonally, since I think that is the best for beginners.
