Me and my friend do a lemonade stand each summer and also sell some of our creations. We set the price to the same for everything to make it easier but I don’t know what the price should be because all of the creations are different so I don’t know.

I don't think all the prices being the same is fair. You should take into consideration the cost of materials, the amount of time it took you to finish the bracelet, and of course the size. Then decide what prices you would like to set!

I agree with @str6yk1ds, depending on the size and complexity of the bracelet, as well as material cost and time taken, the bracelets/ keychains should have varied prices. Say I was selling a giant wall hanging and a 4x4 cat keychain, if I price them both at $2, that’s honestly not fair on you and not completely valuing your hard work for the wall hanging. This is just my personal opinion, I have had stalls at markets before and I really think you should properly value your work, while not making the prices ridiculous. ❤️

I think it would be most fair if you set a specific price per string and then calculate the price based on their number in a bracelet. For example, if you set your price 1.5 dollars per string, it makes an 8-string bracelet 12 dollars, 14-string bracelet - 21 dollars, etc. This way the pricing is more or less proportionate to the effort you put into making those bracelets. If you also sell alpha patterns, I'd price them a little higher per string because they're comparatively more difficult. You can also add a little extra cost based on the complexity of the pattern itself: an 8-string chevron and an 8-string arrowhead do not take the same amount of time to make, so the latter should probably cost 2-3 dollars more.

@harriet22 yes exactly!! You should be reasonable but also smart with pricing. What I mean by that is making prices that you are happy with, and worth it for the amount of work you put in, but also not too high or else people won’t buy it. A bit sad that people expect small businesses/market stalls to have extremely low prices, especially when most, if not all, the stuff they’re selling is handmade.

@str6yk1ds @harriet22 @itarosky thank you so much for your answers. Do you think it would be ok if I just priced normals and alphas differently. I dont really make wallhangings so it’s not like it would be super unfair but we mostly focus on the lemonade and not the creations.

Yes!! I think alphas should be higher priced cause they generally take longer to make, and in most cases create more flexible and intricate designs. Still, the size of the creation does matter though, cause if you have a really thin alpha and a thick normal, the normal would probably take longer.

@str6k1ds ok but it seems like that wouldn’t matter because alphas take up more materials.

What is the range of strings that you use for normals? What kinds of normal patterns do you do?If it is just small differences, like 8 to twelve strings, I think it might be fine to just go with one price for all, but if the difference is bigger, I would recommend pricing different sizes differently. |

@halokiwi yeah I usually do 6-10 strings so hopefully that’s alright

I think alphas should be slightly higher priced, but maybe not by much. I usually find that alphas take longer but normals use more string, though it depends on how you make your bracelets. ❤️

@harriet22 oh I thought alphas would take more because of the base strings

I guess it depends on the size of the alphas. I usually make small-ish alphas but all my normals need to be the same length to fit me so again, it depends.
