I seriously hate the rules for submitting patterns.

Why is it that you have to add several different colours to make the pattern more "visible" and "comprehensible" when all it does is just make the pattern more out of balance? If for example you're trying to make a tree and you want to add the shadings, why is it necessary to add shades from different colours that completely disturb the whole art? It makes no sense. Then it will be flagged as "similar colours". You can't use black, you can't use similar shades, you can't use the same colour in multiple places. Great.
If you guys have any suggestions lmk, maybe im in the wrong but this may be a problem for many not just me.

It's for readability.

Instead of black, use #262626 (darkest accepted colour).

You can use multiple shades of the same colour, but they need to be different enough from each other so the pattern can be read easily. Use the automated warnings as a guide to help you make them different enough.

You are also allowed to use the same colour in multiple places but you should keep in mind how it affects potential variations. For example, you shouldn't use the same colour for the background and an element in your design because then it might look very odd when adding a variation with a different background colour.

You aren’t allowed to use black because then it will be unreadable against the grid lines. You aren’t allowed to use too similar colors because they will confuse the reader, especially with people who have bad eyes. Halokiwi is a moderator so their response will probably be better, but those were just some clarifications I thought might be useful.
