If I create a pixel pattern elsewhere, is there a way to import it in here?

If you have it as an image, you can use 'alpha from image' on it. Make sure that each 'pixel' in your pattern image is actually only one pixel big. Only this way it will work.

Got it. I have tried it and it works kinda ok - with some clean up needed for larger patterns. I was hoping there was a more precise way. Thanks for confirming!

For me this technique works perfectly. No cleanup needed.I'm using dotpict to draw my patterns. Which app are you using? It is important to set the right amount of colours as well as the right size. Are you sure, one "pixel" is actually only one pixel big? Download your image in the lowest resolution possible. |

I've made some on pixilart and it imported perfectly, I just made just to count my colours and size precisely 🙂 you do need pixel art without black lines in between I believe

@halokiwi - when I tried before, I was actually using one of my own patterns from this site (so I could use it as a base and then modify it), but saved as a .png. I am not using StitchFiddle, but have not tried again from that. I will give it another try. thanks to you and @Arkengheis you for the tips.

I think @Arkengheis probably gave the best adviceIt won't work (well), if you have the black lines in the pattern |

@halokiwi - I was not using the photo with the grid/lines. I think my mistake before was not matching the number of pixels exactly. Once I have a new pattern, I'll try again.

@halokiwi - I have an app/tool called "Snip & Sketch" (which is a free download and install on Windows) and it lets me snip a screen grab. So when I am in the "Draw alpha pattern" area, I click on the "Toggle borders" button, then snip it and save it.

@halokiwi - oh I snipped my pattern BEFORE I submitted it (because I knew I wanted to do multiple versions of my sugar skull, and it took me so long just to make the basic skull I wanted). You can toggle the grid off and on when you are in the drawing alpha area.

Oh wow, I completely forgot about the feature to toggle the grid, because it has never been useful for me. Now I know what it can be useful for. Thank you!
