When creating a color variation to someone else's pattern, are you able to change the knot direction in the pattern or do you have to create your own pattern instead?

In variations you can only change colours. If you want to make an own pattern with a different knotting structure, you have to create a new pattern. BUT that pattern needs to be different enough from already existing patterns. You can't just copy an already existing pattern and only change once or two knots. |

@lconn338 on the first page of the generator, click on the box with the colour you want to replace. Select a new colour. Click "save and test" to apply the changes.

hey, i have a problem.i want to make a variation of the pattern #796 , and i have two messages telling me that i must put at least 5 keywords. and the other one tells me that the string on the top dont match the ones on the bottom. i dont understand how the pattern was able to be submited because these two things mentioned wasn't fixed in the original pattern . is there a reason for this ? if so wat can i do to submit my variation. |

@karliangel you only need to add at least one more keyword in order to be able to submit it. You can't fix the strings that don't match, so that's not an issue. You can submit it anyways. In the past, you didn't need as many keywords to submit a pattern and it was also allowed to post patterns that didn't have matching strings. Now you need at least 5 keywords and matching strings. |

@karliangel no worries. These were good questions. Many people experience the same confusion as you.
