What decides the difficulty level of a bracelet?

I was looking through the difficulty levels and was wondering what makes a level five different from, say, a level ten. THX! 😄

We no longer use difficulty levels on patterns, because they are highly subjektive. I'm not sure what was the criteria for the different difficulties. It was way before I joined braceletbook.
