faint grey line while designing patterns

i am currently designing an alpha bracelet using "draw alpha". if i do a long press or click with both sides of the touch pad, a faint horizontal grey line appears in the knot box. what does it mean/symbolize?

Those are to make holes or spaces for a shaped pattern. Like in these patterns #144529 #145026
