Pattern and Variation Problems

So, rn i am currently making some Minecraft music discs. The different discs are differentiated by a blob of color around the center of the disc. With this blob of color, there is sometimes a design within those colors to help differentiate more. For some of the discs, they have the same design but different colors. This makes the pattern maker think that the just made pattern is a variation of another different pattern. These disks also have different names which I put in the tag section of the pattern. The "variation" isn't the same disc so it has a different name and stuff. For example, pattern #65634 is a disc called "blocks". Another pattern that I have yet to submit is called "stal". For the "blocks", you have the red part in the middle. However, "stal" has this exact same blob just in white. The pattern generator automatically assumes that they are variations even tho they aren't. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should do? Thank you!

Hi, they can only be added as variations because you have the same knotting structure, just different colours. Please don't try to get around this because ultimately it would be a duplicate pattern even if the generator didn't recognize it as a variation. My recommendation would be to just add the keywords you would add if you made a new pattern when you submit the variation. Variations can have different keywords from the original pattern. What you could also do is put all disks that would only be able to be added as variations into one pattern and put them next to each other. Then you just put the different names in the keywords. |

@halokiwi Thanks for that info! That helps a lot. I didn't know variations could have different keywords so now I am good with it. Also, I wasn't going to try to get around the generator things. I just was curious to know solutions to this problem. Thanks for helping!

I'm glad I could help 😄I didn't think you would try to get around it. I only said it just in case someone else might suggest doing so. I tried to cover any possible scenario. |
