Hi there. I’m a pretty experienced bracelet maker but still getting into segment knotting. I find it super intimidating and the pattern I’m working on now cant afford to have many mess ups or lots of undoing because I plan to gift It. I find I struggle most with making sure all the strings properly line up. For example I’m using pattern179836 and I want to do the small diamonds as segments. But how do I make sure my strings always end up in the position they need to be? TIA☺️

Once you got the first few rows down it will be easier because then the strings are in order. If you want them to be in order right away, start with a shaped start. How to segment-knot #179836: https://imgur.com/a/mBWtxh2 Step 1: tie all diamonds in row 8 to 2 (including the edge knots of row 1) Step 2: tie all diamonds in row 2 to 4 Step 3: tie all diamonds in row 4 to 6 (including the edge knots of row 5) Step 4: tie all diamonds in row 6 to 8 Within the individual steps, the order of the diamonds doesn't matter but I recommend going left to right (or right to left) to not accidentally skip some |
