I can never make a nice bracelet where there’s no imperfections (coming from a perfectionist) and it loses my motivation to make bracelets. I enjoy it when I can do patterns like chevrons, candy stripes, flip flops or any pattern where it’s very repetitive and not complex at all. I always try to do a new pattern that looks very simple and has few strings and colors but even then it just looks like a hot mess. I know it takes practice but once I don’t like the way one bracelet looks I just quit on it. Any tips or tricks?

Making bracelets takes practice, maybe more than you would expect. Many people find making them relaxing, but they aren't relaxing for everyone and that's alright too.Maybe you could make smaller projects like keychains or tie test batches before committing to tying a full bracelet. |

Making bracelets is relaxing, BUT - for me there is a but - not every pattern. I love repetitive patterns where I don't have to look at the pattern all of the time. Arrowheads for example. And many more. I like to make them outside in the garden or while watching TV. And there are other patterns, such as outline patterns and others, where I really have to watch out what I am doing. These are the ones that I don't find so relaxing. These are my wips that have to wait much longer than others, although they are really nice patterns. And then there are alphas. I hate them. I really do. They look so nice, but you always have to look at the pattern. With every. single. knot! At the beginning I could not even make arrowheads from memory and in the meantime there are still patterns where I think omg, I can't to this from memory. And then I start, make a few rows and then it flows. So yes, it takes practice. But it also depends on the pattern. |

While practice definitely makes a lot of difference, I think sometimes you just need to be pointed at a specific technique you might be missing out on. At first my bracelets wouldn't look so good, then I watched a couple of tutorials and I figured that I wasn't pulling the strings at the correct angle which resulted in a messier look. Something that I started to do recently is to push my knots upwards when I complete a row or section to make them more neat and tidy. Try looking out for specific resources like this and you'll see an improvement in no time! Best knotting (:
