I’ve seen a bunch of normal patterns where there is no natural V where you’d make the triangle ends. It’s just straight across like alpha, except that the knots are staggered like normal. #34713 as an example. How do you do triangle or loop ends with these types of patterns?

Hi! #34713 is an example of a 1212 pattern, which in my opinion are significantly harder to tie than regular normals because of all the forward-backward and backward-forward knots. To make ends for 1212s or other normal patterns without Vs, however, you can draw a V on the pattern where you'd like it to be and go from that - the shaped ends just bring out the strings you will be using in the right order, and thus won't be affected by the type of knot that would be there on the pattern. TLDR: just pretend it has a V like a regular normal pattern and go from there :>
