My bracelets (specifically alphas) keep looking stretched and longer than in the pictures. How can I make them look less stretched? I’ve tried pushing my knots up and tightening them, but it’s no use.

it might also be TOOO much pressure, try tightening them, but don't just pull both strings towards you, try pulling the string you created a knot with upwards, and do it softly until you get to the end , then you tighten so it stays there, lets hope this helped, have a great day 🙂

tying your knots a little looser may help. the alpha only looks the same as the photo if the knots are somewhat square

you could use the double base string method or use thicker base strings? it tends to make your knots more square! (knotting on two strings as if they were one)

Okay, so I am fairly new to alphas, I've only been making them for a couple years, but every time I make one, the image is elongated and it is driving me CRAZY 😭 I tried not tightening the knots until I reach the top, and I've tried using a ruler to push them up, but it's just not working. I am not someone who loves intentionally making my bracelets loose, but if that's what y'all would recommend, then I can force myself to do it 😅 ANYway, does anyone have any tips for how I can fix this??? Anything would be much very much appreciated!!!

Hi @Zerd_Same here: Knots would need to be square, but they tend to be longer, so your pattern looks elongated. As said above, wider/double base strings might be an option. But you need to do a mixture of tighter and looser knotting as follows: First half of the knot: NOT overtighten the first half of the knot, since this pulls your two base strings together and makes the bracelet narrower compared to the length. 2nd half of the knot: Tighten normally, so your knot stays wide, and easier to push them up as a row. After: Push the entire row upwards as you have been doing. New Alphas made by you: If you create them from a picture, you have to squeeze the picture first, so it seems too short. Microsoft Word is enough for the job, save the squeezed picture as a copy. I found squeezing to about 75-80% of the original would then make you end up with a normal look again. The % is depending on how tight or loose you tie your knots, and what thread you use. Will be a try-out. Happy knotting to you 😉 |
