How far along are you? Have you ever made a "shaped alpha" before?

While it's not the exact same pattern of course, Masha might be able to help explain how to tackle such a beastie, since the pattern as we're seeing it isn't self-explanatory.

(Around 3:10 if we're in a hurry. Around 9:00 clarifies what we do when things start to widen out.)

Don't even bother with the manual (it reads like stereo instructions, anyway).

@GuiseppeK I’ve done shaped alphas before and I’m at row 30 (just before it has those gaps), thank you for the video though (and I understood the reference hehe)

Yeah, I can see where things might get a bit tricky down there. My best guess is that it at that stage, we divide our base strings into ones that are going to the left and will be gradually tapered out and those that will stay in the middle. So taking the four on the left side, go ahead and finish that tapering "lip" of the sandworm (you hate 'em, right? I hate 'em myself) before doing ANYthing else--the middle section can probably wait. Incorporating one more of the four segregated base strands each time until they're all in the bundle at 32. After that, repeat the entire process over on the right side. I can tell just from eyeballing that single strand of blue needed to properly finish things off is liable to be a pain in the backside. If it makes our lives just a little easier, maybe just finish the job with a final row of white? I'm willing to bet it'll still look good.

After the two wing-like appendages we've created are finished, those eight base strings appear to be out of the game from that point on. If it was up to me, I'd probably snip them off and then give things a discreet dab of hot glue or similar so it doesn't get any funny ideas about ever coming undone. When that's taken care of, we go back up to row 30 and finish the middle section, incorporating brand new black and blue working strings since the old ones would've been used to make the lips.
