Alpha bracelet being “lumpy” problem

Hello! I recently started trying alpha bracelets and made my first ‘bigger’ 27 base string one (with 26 rows). I noticed that as I keep color changing the back of my alpha gets thick causing warping on the front. I am able to flatten it out, but it is still a little warping up front (hope this makes sense). Are there any ways to color change in alpha that can prevent the strings on the back from getting so thick? Would it involve cutting them off as I am making the bracelet, or, making longer color strings so I don’t need to color switch as much? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

Is the warping coming from specific colors going back and forth behind the alpha? If that’s the case (it may not be) then you can have multiple string of that color on either side so there is less crossing

yeah, i had this same problem starting out, too! the best way to solve it is by changing your alpha-making process to the flat alpha technique + the straight edges technique! it will take a bit more time to get used to, but I find them much easier to work with once you have progress. some people prefer the look of them done normally, however, so it's whatever you wanthere is a flat alpha tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-TNzvNGxAM and a straight edges tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa3mG0EnSNI |

@PurpleSkyz yes!! Thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely try that in my future alphas. I kept zigzagging that the back got super thick and messy.

@ knotbored_ thank you for those videos! I will definitely check them out and incorporate it into my future alphas. I have seen one tutorial on flat alphas before but haven't tried it yet!
