I hate the way the rows of my bracelets lean to one side, and then lean the other way on the next rows
Like this...

It warps the pattern and doesn't look good.
Is there a way to fix this?
I've heard of something called "upside down alphas" and someone else also said the clean back alpha technique could help with this?
Is there anything else that might fix this problem?
Thank you! (:

are you talking about alpha patterns? this happened to me and i lightly pulled the base strings the opposite way and it seemed to help a little bit. not sure if it would work that well but just a suggestion 🙂

You can use the straight edge technique (the ones you mentioned are for other things — clean back technique is for getting rid of the strings across the back). To do this, make a fb/bf knot instead of a f/b knot at the start and end of each row (or try straight edge as keywords in the Tutorial section). Hope that’s helpful!

I make my alphas clean-back, and that becomes the "front", because i think it looks cleaner than the round knot side with my technique

I think you should try the upside-down alpha technique. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but it looks like it gets rid of the waving you’re talking about. Here's a YouTube video I found:

Basically for this technique, in order to make the knots “upside-down” instead of the knotting string which is creating the “4” shape going over the base string, the knotting string goes UNDER the base string. It’s a bit difficult to explain with words, but the video demonstrates it perfectly through visuals.

make sure that when making knots, you pull the leading string straight up instead of diagonal. another solution that i’ve heard but haven’t tried is to run a toothpick along the rows in the opposite direction of the slant, but idk if it works or not. if you have any questions @ me!
