thickness of base strings

maybe it's a common question, but i didn't find the answer here. a have some old strings, but they don't match the thickness with strings i'm gonna use for color. is it okay to use them for base? since they won't be seen in a bracelet anyway. if it's okay, wich is better, to use thiner or thicker strings for base? thank you!

as long as your leading strings are all consistent and your base strings are consistent, it shouldn’t matter the consistency of the two groups together as long as they are consistent separately!

So a lot of people say if you use different kinds of strings it makes it look weird, but in my opinion it doesn’t really change anything
