I made my first alpha a few weeks ago and didn't realise until I finished that the base strings were too short and so now I can't tie up the bracelet bc they're to short!! Is there any way to fix this like by adding more string somehow idk.....

What I do is just tape new strings under the alpha and then just simply swap out the short ones with the new ones and continue knotting! Then at the end I’ll tie a knot where I started just to make sure the knots don’t slip off the strings and then glue it down as normal

just for future reference i typically make my base strings about 3-5 inches longer than the pattern and it may seem like a lot but it helps for ending ties and to have a better hold on the base strings when i am tying onto them

another future reference (maybe): what can be done (if you use your string directly from the bobbin for your leading string) is you turn your leading string into the base string cut it off and then tie the leading string on again after tucking the old base string again —though it does become slightly misshaped.
