Why are my alphas appearing stretched out?

I started making alphas about a year ago, and I noticed my bracelets always appear stretched out (i.e. a circle on a pattern appears as an oval on my bracelet). Does anyone know how to solve this problem?!?!?! the bracelets online look so goood. i want to make bracelets like that 😭

that tends to happen with alphas, but to combat that you could try the double base string method! basically you double your number of bass strings and then when making knots, knot over two base strings as one!

this is typically because knots form more of a downwards oval shape rather than perfect circles or squares. although it may be tedious, you could adjust every knot as you go, or like @kambri1224 said, double base strings work just the same 😊
