I'm in the process of making a wall hanging, but the letters are coming out textured and bumpy. I made sure to use all the same brand of thread, and I am using flat alpha tequnique. I use a ruler as well to smooth the row. ANY advice is HIGHLY apreciated. Thank you ❤️

Can you take a pic of your wall hang and put it as your profile pic so we can see what it looks like? It might be easier to help you.

Could you link the pattern?

Are your loose leading strings in the back puzzle tight or are they more loose? If they are pulled too tight, this might be the reason why the alpha is bumpy. You can then just cut them to relieve tension.

@cecibee87 Yeah, I'll do that in a minute.
@hariet22 It's pattern #4360791
@halokiwi I cut the strings on the back and it didn't seem to help 😢

Are you doing the flat alpha technique properly?

@halokiwi everytime I do a color switch, I do a half knot with the leading string, put it up, put the old string on top of the base string, and finish the knot with the leading string. I'm 99.999% sure that's right, although I could just be REALLY confused lol. ❤️

Some letters in the pattern have a lot of colour switches near them, though that wouldn’t usually cause bumpiness unless the colour switches directly involve the letters, which they don’t seem to, but maybe the switches still are. Another reason could be if you were using a different type of thread for the letters, but you know if that’s true. It could also maybe be the
size of the pattern, I have found that I have a little bit of bumpiness when making larger patterns.

I honestly don’t really know if it isn’t one of these but…😅
I really hope that this helps! ❤️
