Does anyone else experience raw skin from making bracelets?

Hey! I’ve been doing bracelets for a few years, but every time I get back into the hobby the string rubs my skin raw. It’s certain parts of my fingers where the string rubs over and over. I’ve tried to combat this with medical tape, but I don’t absolutely love the solution. Does anyone else experience this and have any tips to help with this? Thanks 🙂

Hi!! Try not to be too rough with the strings. What I mean by that is when you’re picking up a string, try to pull it through slowly so it doesn’t rub against your finger too hard. Also, when you’re securing a knot, don’t pull too hard as well since it may cause a burning sensation.

I've been getting this too. Other posts I've seen talk about soreness on their index fingers, but I get it on the outer side of my right thumb specifically. I know it's because I'm pulling my knots really tight, but I don't know how else I would go about doing it.

Hi! Yeah I used to get this ALL the time and it was horrible!!! I found that finding smoother/better quality strings improved it SOOO much! It doesn't rub my skin nearly as bad anymore! I try my hardest not to use my "bad" thread because I don't want to put myself through that again lol

I try bandaids around my finger as a cushion

This used to happen to me too but once I started knotting more and more, I was able to get a good tension without pulling so hard on the string to where irritated my skin. Now, I wouldn’t let the string pass through my fingers so much.
