I am noticing that I have a really hard time maintaining tension for fb and bf knots, most likely because am left-handed and I tie backwards knots with my left hand and forward knots with my right hand, and so I have to switch hands in the middle of these knots. Are there any good photo or video tutorials that show a good technique for doing a full fb and bf knot without switching hands, so that I can try to retrain myself? Thanks! |

I always hold the 'base' string with my left hand and the 'leading' string with my right hand, no matter which knot I do.I just hold the base string straight, lay the leading string over the base string so that a loop is left and pull the end of the leading string through the loop. I would say, just try it out. You already figured out one half of it, so you will figure out the other half too. 😄 |

In my case, I'm also left-handed since I have difficulties with my right one. So what I do is simply the 4 or the P shapes with the working string on the other. the 4 shape for forward knot and the P shape for the backward knot. I do all those knots with only my left hand while my right hand is holding the other string.
