Make your string as long as the other base strings are but DON'T cut it. fold the string and use it as you main color. (Sorry if this is confusing!)

Are you using larks head knots and putting your base strings onto a king ring? If so, thread your last base string onto the ring which will make it 12 base strings. Since you only need 11, use one of the strings on the edge as your leading strand and begin knotting the pattern. Let me know if you are still confused 😊

I know this is a bit late now, but you could try it next time you come across this. What I do for this is take a single strand and pull it apart (embroidery floss is 6 stranded, so split it in half so its 3 stranded). I take one of the two halves, and make the larks head knot onto the keyring, once its on it will come together, and it'll be 6 stranded again😄! and then I just make the knots onto that string as normal 🙂.

i always make my base strings the same color as my leading string, and take my leading string and fold it to an equivalent size to the others and go. hopefully this makes sense!!
