(repost from the wrong subsection))Hi ! Ive just finished my 3rd alpha, and I have three problems : First, even tho im using the straight edge technic my edges aint... really straight... And I don't know why Second, my alpha makes a huge curve from the start to the end and again I cant figure out why... I would like to share some photos to show whats happenning but I dont really know how to post pictures in the forum, is it possible ? Third, the pattern is elongated :/ |

first question: you might need to make the edges more carefully? or you might be making on knot (on the right) a forward backward and then just a backward? im saying this because i did it.second: you might be using different string thicknesses or again, you might need to do it more carefully. last one is one where you say '' it iz hat it iz'' it happens to the best of us 🙈 |

Yeah your knots might not be the same tightness aka you didn’t use the same knot tension.

Im always doing forward backward on the right, Are you asking if I am, or are you suggesting that I do a backward knot for the second one ? All my string or the same brand 🙁 That might be because I do them too tight ? And for the 3rd thing, Ive seen people with good proportionnate pattern, are they magicians or what 😢 I feel like nobody knows how to solve this, but some have the power to do it great D': |

I have the elongation problem too, I made a pattern that was perfectly square but it turned out like a rectangle, if anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know (:

@Kiwi try loosening your knot tension. I struggle with this problem too, since I tie my knots extremely tight to run from my ugly porous past. If you just do it more gently, it should look more square. I hope my explanation kinda helped.

I have trouble with alphas too not so much the tying part but when i use flat alpha technique and there are colors back to back all in a row (i.e. if i had to make a blue knot a red knot and a yellow knot right next to each other in a row) The bracelet gets bunched up and i get mad...help idk how to fix this

Hi ! Sorry its been a while Ive been busy with school. Thank you very much for your advice. For those asking, I was using the straight edge method, and also the flat alpha one. The problem probably came from the tension of the strings, my knots were way too tight, so I made them looser, and it worked ! At least for the "wavy" bracelet problem, it completely resolved it. For the height/width ratio problem, I think it helped too, my works are not as elongated as they were, so thank you very much to whom suggested that ! (and sorry for the language mistakes)
