I just got a message from a user with profile photo or no activity on their account that looks very much like a scam message. I can't figure out what the goal of it would be but the vagueness of the message read very suspicious to me, and it looks incredibly similar to bot messages I've gotten on other websites. Has anyone else received these messages? Have there been scam/bot problems on braceletbook before? Message attached below, username and name redacted just in case. "Hello, I hope you are doing well. My name is [Name]. I am a crochet artist and work mainly with colorwork and pixel grid techniques. I discovered your designs through Breceletebook and I would like to say how much I admire your work — your designs are truly beautiful and inspiring. I am writing to kindly ask if you would authorize the use of one of your pixel grid designs as a base for creating crochet pieces and, possibly, for producing educational content or tutorials showing the handmade process. If permission is granted, I will of course give full credit to you as the original designer and clearly reference your work whenever the piece or tutorial is shared. If you have any specific conditions for this use (such as personal use only, commercial use, or specific credit requirements), I would be more than happy to respect them fully. Thank you very much for your time and for sharing such wonderful work. Warm regards, [Name] |

It might very well be a person who created an account just to be able to reach out to you about your patterns and used chatgpt or something similar to write a professional text. It might also be spam/scam.If you feel like the user is a potential threat, simply ignore them. They cannot do anything to you. You can message a moderator such as me to give us the username, so we mods can check the user out or at least have them on our minds in case someone makes similar experiences. If you are curious, write a message back to them asking what specific pattern this is about and why they like the pattern. This way you might be able to figure out, if they actually messaged you because of a specific pattern or not. |
