I want to make a coaster from normal pattern but the thing is the highest dimensions I could find are 32 strings. I doubt that this ks the length of the coaster...can anyone help? How do I increase the length so that it becomes a coaster 🤔. Like how do I connect the strings in that way? And how do I do the triangle beginning and connect all the triangles? Or shall I skip the triangles?

I would just tie a single square like #54602 (obviously bigger). You could either make your regular triangle ends or you could leave loose strings as a sort of fringe.Have you already figured out how big it needs to be? Alternatively you could do a normal without doing a shaped start. Then you would only have a fringe on only two sides instead of four. No matter the technique you pick, I'd definitely tie it as one piece. If 64 strings isn't wide enough, you can always double the pattern. |

I'm bad at explaining, but here are examplesOption 1: 0,0,0,0 0,f,0 0,f,f,0 f,f,f f,f,f,f f,f,f 0,f,f,0 0,f,0 Option 2: f,f,f,f f,f,f f,f,f,f f,f,f f,f,f,f f,f,f f,f,f,f 0,0,0 0,0,0,0 0,0,0 Just copy and paste in the normal pattern generator to see. This is just 8 strings but could be made any size and you could use any pattern you like. |

Hmmm, if I were to go about doing this, I might try to use string that is a bit thicker than the typical bracelet thread thickness to create knots that are a bit larger than usual 🙂 I might also begin the coaster by maybe making mini triangles ends on either end, so the ends look less like triangles and more like a serrated, zig zag type of edges. Or, maybe I would find a way to try and exclude triangle ends if I was looking for a more square-ish look, maybe by making larks head knots over a large piece of string similarly to how wall-hangings begin depending on the string order, or I wonder if just using a little bit of glue and cutting the ends off could work? 🙂

I'm sorry I couldn't find any patterns that go upto 60 strings,normL patterns!! Could u maybe mention them here? Also,I want to make a coaster of length and breadth same which is 14cm

I would need about 140 strings for 14cm width btw. Are you sure 60 is enough? I think 128 strings would give a really nice design because you can multiply a 16, 32 or 64 string pattern. |
