Is it okay to make variations for patterns?

I've seen people here make a colour variations for patterns from others and I've been wondering if I can do it too. Do I have to send requests somewhere beforehand or something like that?

No, you don't need to ask for permission. Variations appear under the original pattern, so there is no confusion as to who created the original. Pattern pages have an "add a variation" button, which lets you edit the colors of the pattern, without changing the knot pattern.

Yes! Making variations is one of my favorite features about this site! 😄The higher rank you are, the more variations/patterns you can make per day. And making variations is one way to help increase your rank 😊 |
