How long do my base strings need to be for an alpha?

Hi, I'm making an alpha bookmark and I don't know how long to make the base strings the dimensions for the bookmark are 16x60.

16x60 means it's 16 base strings and 60 rows.Have you made an alpha before? If yes, you can use it to measure how long a certain amount of rows is (for example 10 rows) and then use that to calculate how long 60 rows will be. The length of the base strings needs to be the length of your bookmark (or bracelet) plus anything else you need for loops, ties etc. |

I use anchor/dmc embroidery thread and I have 6 knots per cm. That’s usually the standard cotton thread that you can get in big packs online. Generally just have a lot of thread and if you have scraps masha knots has a good video about how she uses her scraps. As you get more experienced you will find it easier to estimate the length. Remember to add extra length for grip and any ties at the end!
