Hi everyone!I've tried making this bracelet twice ( https://www.braceletbook.com/patterns/normal/197547/ ) , and each time, I can't get a straight edge. I know there is a "straight edge technique." I've watched Masha Knots' video on it, and I'm so confused. Can I even do the straight edge technique for this pattern? I'm thinking I'd have to use the technique where you add an extra string on the far left and far right? I'm about to pull my hair out. Can someone please help me? |

You can do straight edge technique for any pattern, you just have to add the extra strings on the ends. This will lead to rows that were originally the longer rows becoming shorter, and vice versa. All you have to do is look at the pattern and see where the string appears to go like < or >. When thst comes along, you tie an bf or fb onto the extra string, depending on if you're on the left or right. In row 2 of the pattern you mentioned, you can see all the way on the left and all the way on the right that the string appears to bend and come back in- this is where the straight edge technique would be applied. You aren't doing anything wrong, you just haven't used the technique as intended yet. It is not about how you tie or the tightness of your knots, you just have to get the hang of it with practise and keep tying. It may help to take a picture of the pattern and draw the extra knots over it, if that works for you. I'm confident you'll be able to do it (:
