Is pattern 14689 bumpy for anyone else?

I was originally intimidated by this pattern; unsure if I would be able to have enough slack in the dragging thread but I ended up just sending it and I'm in LOVE. After speeding through the first half of it I've noticed that between the forward knots and then the next square being backwards knots. My squares have a ridge. Is that normal? Has that happened to other people? Am I not knotting the first line correctly? Again, its pattern ##14689.

What exactly do you mean by ridge? Is there a gap? Our is it just that on the back you can tell the different knot types apart? Or something else?

@halokiwi That’s a great question. So it’s on the front side and it’s where the last row of forward knows meets the first row of backwards and vise versa. There’s a little bump from the switch in knots.
