Why my bracelets with alphas look so distorted?

The knots used in friendship bracelets are taller than they are wide, so alpha patterns can end up looking stretched. Pushing the stitch up after every row can help a bit, and using thicker threads for base strings can make the stitches wider, too. If you don't have thicker thread on hand, doubling, or even tripling up your base string works the same. Hoping this helps. Maybe other people have more tips.

For me it helped to actively pull the string upward when fastening the second half of the knot. Also make sure not to pull the first half of the knot too tight, that was also one of my issues when making alphas and it distorted them even more.
