Backwards/forwards knots & forward/backwards knots

Does anyone have tips or tricks to tension with both these style knots. I just recently tried pattern #95677 and it wasn’t terrible however the areas containing these knots are a little wonky. Very curious how everyone learned them. Any advice helps, thank you in advance!

When I tie my backward forward or forward backward knots, I pull the string towards the right for the forward part and towards the left for the backward part. Also, it'll improve with time and practice but one thing you can try, and I did this when I was new, is that you pull most of the string fast, like you probably do, but when a little is left before the knot tightens you leave the end of the string and hold it closer to where the knot is and then slowly pull it while adjusting the position of the knot with your other hand, makes it less wonky. |
