Hi y’all! I’ve been making bracelets for ~6 years, but lately it’s been annoying me how elongated my alpha bracelets are. The knots end up being more vertical than round or square, it ends up making the design look wonky once I finish.

I’ve heard some people say to make the knots looser, some say tighter so I’m unsure what would be better! I’m sure my knot tension has changed over the years LOL

that tends to happen with alpha bracelets, but a common solution is to either use the double / triple base strings method (multiplying your base strings by 2 or 3 and then using 2 or 3 as if they were one base string) or using a thicker kind of string for your base strings than your leading strings. i hope this helps, @ me for any questions!

Try loosening your knot tension and try to keep it somewhat consistent. It’s easier to hide when some knots are bigger or smaller in normal patterns, but in alphas you need to be careful since it can affect the end result (elongated if your knots are really tight, bumps/dips if your tension isn’t consistent). Also, be extra careful when knotting the first few rows since they act like a foundation for the rest of the bracelet. Doubling up your base strings or using thicker thread, just like the other person said, could help as well.

Also! If you're using the flat alpha technique, changing colors in the "normal"/classic way will help, especially when you have a lot of color changes in the same row. Your alpha might look slightly bumpier but at least the knots will be regular! hope this helps even if it's been a while since your comment💌
